Irridescent watercolour on canvas, with collage, stamping, bollywood braid, paperflowers and found objects.
As mentioned in a previous post, this was a gift for someone, and had to be finished on a tight deadline. The cluster of flowers was not part of my original concept, but the shape of the canvas proved to be a bit difficult to work with.

After I had painted it and attached the main image I discovered that my planned embellishments would not work, and then had a play around with other ideas before settling on the trim and the flowers. I like the movement that the beaded trim gives the piece, a bit like a miniature beaded curtain.
And the lower part of the canvas is supposed to represent a field of flowers. The flowers are all made from paper, sourced from a number of papercraft companies. I initially left the centres bare, but ultimately added the jewels and pearls because I felt it added more dimension.
The deadline was met, the gift was given, and it is now residing in the UK. I was sad to let this one go, but happy to give it to Gwen who spent a lot of time tracking down some wedgewood pieces for me to complete my set.
Have I mentioned that I like the combination of flowers and fringe in this one? Well, I do. ^__^
