Finished packing last night (this morning) at about 1am, and had to be up at 6 so didn’t get a lot of sleep.
Left home at 6.30am to get to the airport in time for my check in and 9am flight. Thought that I would have room in my bags for all the books and goodies I will get this weekend, but I am already at my weight limit. Oops. Looks like I will have to either ditch some stuff or send some of the books back via mail. I suppose there is the possibility that I over packed, but I needed 5 days of clothes, plus outfits for 3 evening / cocktail functions. Plus I brought gym gear with me for a few days. I’m just worried I’m going to be too warm, I brought stuff to suit Sydney weather. I feel I was woefully mislead by a friend who lives locally, who said that the weather was cold and drizzly.
Registered for the conference. There were professional development sessions today for published authors which obviously I didn’t qualify for, although they did look interesting. I did get to go to the Penguin Special event in the Stingray bar tonight, more on that in the next post.
However this year, for the first time I am doing the optional day of workshops on Friday. It is being run by Alexandra Sokoloff and is called Screenwriting Tricks for Authors. I had to do some homework during the week and email it to her, but I’ll talk about all that in another post.
