This was a card commissioned for someone at work, whose friend was performing for the first time in an opera.

Ars longa, vita brevis

Stamped theatre masks image layered on purple cardstock, then metallic cream, and then onto printed music paper that has been aged around the edges.  Base card has been aged with a texture block before papers attached.  Flower has been stained around the edges and gem attached to the front.

Ars longa – inside

Inside:

Stamped text and aging around the edges

Ars longa – envelope

Envelope:

Music stamped down left side.  Aging block stamped down right side.  Ink swiped down left edge.  Flower swiped with ink and attacked, with gem placed at centre.

And I forgot to say originally:

The quote is latin and translates as Art is long, life is short.

Author: Philippa

I make arty mixed-media things, & write fantastical things (with kissing), & do musical & dancing things, & play gaming things, & do weightlifting things, & organise fabulous event things. But mostly I wrangle cats. Renaissance woman.

  1. thanks Jo 🙂 I thought it would suit any musical or theatrical occasion really. I was really pleased with how the colours came together.
